The Ras Laffan strike
=====================

The Ras Laffan strike was the Iranian attack on Qatar's liquefied natural gas facilities during the 2026 Iran war, part of the campaign against Gulf infrastructure that John Kiriakou covered as it happened.

Qatar's own assessment, as reported on the programme, was that export capacity had fallen by seventeen per cent and that repairs would take at least three to five years. Oil stood at $108 a barrel at the time of the discussion, Kiriakou noting it was "down from 115 just a few hours ago. And who knows where it's going to go next."

The strike belongs to the same sequence as the attack on South Pars and the North Dome, the gas field Qatar shares with Iran, and to Iran's wider targeting of the Gulf states rather than Israel.

Qatar had been struck once before, by Israel, in the episode treated at the Israeli strike on Qatar.
