E. Jean Carroll
===============

E. Jean Carroll is the plaintiff whose litigation against Donald Trump John Kiriakou praised in September 2025, on the day an appeals court left her award standing.

The credit he gives her

Kiriakou began by fumbling for the right compliment and then finding one. "I deep respect for Jean Carol. She has so much I was going to say she has balls of steel, but that doesn't make any sense. She has so much inner fortitude that she stuck this out. She continued her suit. The political tide turned against her. She didn't care. She kept suing. And uh today she won."

On the figure he was approximate and said so: "83 and a half million dollars, I think. Or 85.3 million", met with "83. Yeah. But who's counting?"

The day it landed on

What Kiriakou found notable was the contrast with the rest of the docket. "Today was a day that was very good for Donald Trump in the federal courts, especially in the Supreme Court." Told that Trump had won pretty much everything except this, and that this one was a personal slight against him, Kiriakou's response was "So good for Eene Carol."

The difficulty he acknowledges

He did not treat the case as uncomplicated. The alleged incident dated to the mid-1990s, and Kiriakou raised the defendant's problem on its own terms: by all accounts the two went into a dressing room and had sex, and the question was whether it was consensual. "I mean how does Donald Trump defend himself from that? I don't know." The answer offered, "You can't defend yourself", drew his agreement that it was "kind of a problem."
