John Durham
===========

John Durham was the United States attorney for Connecticut appointed to investigate the origins of the Russia inquiry. John Kiriakou, discussing the investigation in December 2019, treated the documents Durham had obtained as the measure of how serious it was.

Durham, he said, "has now asked for and will receive call logs from John Brennan, emails from John Brennan from the time that he was the CIA director, as well as contemporaneous notes that Brennan took when he was meeting with these other leaders."

What that material would support, in Kiriakou's reading, was not a case about the underlying intelligence but about the accounts given of it afterwards: "process crimes, making a false statement, perjury, which seems to be what John Durham is picking up." He noted that Durham had gone out of his way to correct the record on the nature of the exercise: "A couple of weeks ago, John Durham said that his investigation is not an inquiry. It's an investigation, and it's a criminal one."
