The Greek health care system
============================

Told that Brazil operates a universal public health service alongside a paid private one, John Kiriakou said the arrangement was the same in Greece, and called the model "an advanced society right there."

"That''s exactly how it is in Greece. The health care system is fantastic. They have a private system, all the private system does is it gets you moved closer to the front of the line. So if you use just the public system and you need a procedure, maybe it''s going to take eleven or twelve months. If you have the private system, you can get the procedure in one or two months. That''s the only difference."

The point of the comparison, in context, is that the treatment does not differ by payment, only the waiting does. He offers it in the same conversation in which he argues that Americans do not know what the word socialism means.
