*The Doja Cat song that John Kiriakou discovered, through a Cameo request, had become the soundtrack to a genre of montage about him. The clips set to it use footage from before his weight loss — he lost 77 pounds by 2007 and 115 pounds from 2022 — and he says he cannot watch them.*

- **Artist:** Doja Cat
- **How he found out:** A Cameo request
- **Kiriakou's view of the song:** "I actually like the song"
- **Weight lost by 2007:** 77 pounds in nine months, on a doctor-supervised diet
- **Weight lost since 2022:** 115 pounds, for medical reasons

***Acts of Service*** is a Doja Cat song that, without any involvement from him, became the standard accompaniment to a genre of internet montage about [John Kiriakou](https://www.kiripedia.org/wiki/john-kiriakou).

## How he found out

Kiriakou says he did not realise it until he received a [Cameo](https://www.kiripedia.org/wiki/cameo) request that told him so — *"I actually have a theme song, I guess."* He had been only vaguely aware of Doja Cat. His verdict on the song itself is favourable: *"I actually like the song."*[1]

## What the clips show

The footage is the problem. Kiriakou lost a great deal of weight beginning in 2022 — 115 pounds, and he is explicit that he did it for medical reasons.[2]

It was not the first such effort. He has described an earlier nine-month, doctor-supervised diet that took off 77 pounds by sheer willpower, and dates the call from Brian Ross of ABC News that changed his life to the period when he was at his thinnest, his happiest and his most successful.[3]

His reaction to the montages is unambiguous. *"I hate when I see videos of myself as the fat John. I hate it. To the point where I won't watch it."* Some viewers, he notes with genuine bafflement, actively prefer that version and have set it to Doja Cat — *"I don't understand that at all."*[2][4]

He closes on the comparison rather than the vanity: *"I'm never going to be fat like that again. And I feel like a million bucks compared to what I did."*[5]
