*The Berlin hacker collective that shaped WikiLeaks' early years — and where a journalist first met Daniel Domscheit-Berg under a pseudonym.*

The Chaos Computer Club, a group of hackers from Berlin, played an important role in the history of WikiLeaks. They were involved in the early stages of the organization. [1] On the same 2026 Berlin panel that included [John Kiriakou](https://www.kiripedia.org/wiki/john-kiriakou), it was through the Chaos Computer Club that a journalist recounted meeting early WikiLeaks associate [Daniel Domscheit-Berg](https://www.kiripedia.org/wiki/daniel-domscheit-berg), then introduced under the pseudonym "Daniel Schmitt."[2]
