Clint Goswick is a devout Christian from Wichita Falls, Texas, who ran a successful heating and air conditioning business before being convicted of federal drug conspiracy and a gun charge — despite never having used, possessed, manufactured, or distributed drugs — and served time alongside John Kiriakou at FCI Loretto.[1]
The case
Goswick’s prosecution stemmed from an old relationship: an ex-girlfriend he had dated years earlier was later arrested with a new boyfriend for manufacturing methamphetamine. Investigators tracing phone records found Goswick’s number connected to hers and, through her, to the new boyfriend’s — a chain federal investigators treated as a conspiracy. Goswick’s only actual conduct was hosting a cookout at his house years earlier that the ex-girlfriend and some of her friends had attended.[1] Under federal conspiracy law, one conspirator’s gun charge extends to every member of the conspiracy — which is how Goswick, who never owned or possessed a gun, was also charged with a gun offense.[2]
Prison and release
At FCI Loretto, Goswick got tattoos of Bible verses across his body, insisting his faith would eventually secure his release. He was later released, took advantage of the Second Chance Act, and returned to the heating and cooling business.[3]
