Fort Gordon is a U.S. Army installation in Georgia. NSA whistleblower Reality Winner, discussing her case on John Kiriakou’s show, says she was working at Fort Gordon in what she considered a temporary position, taken to renew a security clearance that was set to expire after she left the U.S. Air Force.[1]
Winner says she took the next available linguist position without knowing whether it would be at Fort Meade or Fort Gordon, because recruiters for a position in Bagram, Afghanistan would not hire her without an active clearance.[2] She describes working at Fort Gordon “in the giant, shiny NSA building that was brand new at the time” as an NSA government contractor.[3] In the same conversation, Winner describes the printer watermark that ultimately let the NSA trace her leaked document back to a specific office.
