He answered in five words: *"The movement of ground forces."*[1] ## The arithmetic The reasoning is a comparison between what is deployed and what an invasion would require. *"We we only have, I'm going to say, 50,000 troops in the region. You can't invade a country of 92 million people with 50,000 troops."*[2] The threshold he set is therefore an order of magnitude away: *"If we started moving hundreds of thousands of troops to bases in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, I would be genuinely worried."*[2] A second sign would come from the sea. *"There's also talk of of taking the the only other active um aircraft carrier strike force battle group that we have and moving it to the region.
