Sigurdur Thordarson

The FBI's key witness against Julian Assange, described by John Kiriakou as a convicted paedophile, a convicted embezzler and a self-admitted liar — one of three facts he lists, alongside the bugging of the Ecuadorian embassy and the reported plot to kidnap or kill Assange, in asking whether judges can keep such things out of their heads.

Sigurdur Thordarson — rendered “Siggy” in the transcript — was the prosecution’s key witness in the Julian Assange extradition case.

John Kiriakou raises him in 2021 not on his own but as the first of three items in a question put to a former FBI agent on the same panel. Introducing it as an educated guess he wanted from someone who was not a British lawyer, he set out what was by then on the record: “so here you’ve got this guy siggy who’s a convicted pedophile and a convicted embezzler and a liar an admitted liar uh you’ve got uh the cia uh hiring this spanish company to to bug the ecuadorian embassy you’ve got now the leaked story that the cia and mi6 conspired to either kidnap julian or to murder him in the streets of knightsbridge.”[1][2]

The question he built on that list was about the judiciary rather than the witness: “judges aren’t stupid right that has to play a role in whatever the the appeals court judges are discussing right now or beyond that the the british supreme court or even the european court of human rights does it not or do they or do they just keep all of that stuff out of their heads while they uh debate this case.”[2]
