Named by Kiriakou both as an FBI whistleblower who exposed racism at the bureau and as one of two Intercept journalists who sent him to prison.
Terry Aubry is named by John Kiriakou as one of two Intercept journalists he holds responsible for the prosecutions of both himself and NSA whistleblower Reality Winner. Kiriakou states: “The two Intercept journalists that were responsible for sending you to prison were the two Intercept journalists responsible for sending me to prison” — naming “Daniel Hail[e] and Terry Aubry.”[1]
Separately, Kiriakou identifies Terry Aubry himself as an FBI whistleblower who exposed systemic racism at the FBI. Aubry was identified as the source, in Kiriakou’s account, after the FBI reviewed security-camera footage from every FBI field office in the country until it found a shot of him photographing his own computer screen.[2]
Kiriakou says he tweeted at the Intercept after Winner’s arrest, asking, “Are you guys just stupid, or are you working for the FBI?” — a question he says the outlet never answered.[3]
