The French village LSD bread experiment is John Kiriakou’s account of a compartmented MK-Ultra sub-operation. He says CIA operatives targeted a small French village — which he does not name, saying he does not remember it — that had a single bakery supplying the whole community.[1] Overnight, they broke in and dosed the yeast with LSD. The baker made and sold his bread as usual, and the entire village went on an unwitting trip. Kiriakou says the agency denied it for decades before conceding in the 1990s, “okay, it was us.”[2][3] He has separately retold the episode as part of a broader account of LSD mind manipulation under MK-Ultra, saying the program never succeeded in taking over anyone’s mind.[4]
