The Danish Greenland demolition plan was Denmark’s preparation to destroy its own infrastructure in Greenland rather than allow an American invasion force to use it.
The plan as described on the DeProgram show was to send troops to Greenland, line all the airstrips with explosives and blow them up, with blood supplies made ready in advance.[1]John Kiriakou confirmed it without qualification: “you’re right. They did all the things that you just said they did, because they genuinely believed Donald Trump was going to invade Greenland. Insane that it got to that point.”[2]
His explanation of the Danish reasoning is that they simply took the president literally. “They believed. They took Donald Trump at his word. He said, ‘Greenland will be ours.’” From there the conclusion followed: “they knew that they were going to have to fight this Goliath somehow. And so, you might as well take the place down with you.”[3][4]
Kiriakou’s own posture toward the episode is apologetic — “every time I encounter a Dane, I want to apologize on behalf of the American government” — and admiring of the response: “I seriously didn’t think they had it in them.
